Paul Szczechura (born November 30, 1985 in Brantford , Ontario ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who was last under contract with Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod from the Continental Hockey League (KHL) until July 2020 and played there on the position of the center .
Career
Paul Szczechura began his career as a hockey player on the Western Michigan University team , for which he was active for a total of four years from 2003 to 2007. Towards the end of the 2006/07 season , the Canadian received a contract with the Iowa Stars , for which he was active in the American Hockey League in the following season . During the 2007/08 season , Szczechura first moved to their league rivals Norfolk Admirals , before receiving a contract as a free agent with their cooperation partner, the Tampa Bay Lightning , on April 24, 2008 , for which he made his debut in the 2008/09 season the National Hockey League existed.
In August 2011 he was hired as a free agent by the Buffalo Sabers and came in the following game year, in addition to nine NHL missions, mainly with the Rochester Americans in the AHL for use.
In May 2012 he was signed by HC Lev Prague from the Continental Hockey League . At the end of September he left HC Lev after three KHL games and was signed by Dinamo Riga . For Dinamo he completed over 100 KHL games in the following two years and won the Nadezhda Cup with his team in 2013 . In May 2014 he moved to HK Dinamo Minsk within the KHL . After his employment contract expired in spring 2016, he moved to HK Tractor Chelyabinsk within the KHL . There he was active for three seasons and then left the club to Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod . His engagement there ended in July 2020.
