Christian Gundlach

Christian Gundlach (born June 26, 1970 ) is a German composer, translator, librettist and director.

Life

As an author and composer, he brought Wolfgang Hohlbein's fantasy bestseller Märchenmond and Peter S. Beagles The Last Unicorn to the stage. In July 2017, his musical version of Ralf Königs The Moving Man was premiered in the Thalia Theater in Hamburg. In addition, he has worked as a lyricist and book author a. a. worked with Martin Lingnau and Edith Jeske ( The Orange Girl ), and Rainer Bielfeldt ( Snow White ).

For the band Santiano , Gundlach contributed the dialogue book for their family musical project King of the Pirates based on a template by Lukas Hainer and directed the radio play. As a dubbing author and director, he is also responsible for the German versions of various television series, for example for Room 104 by Mark and Jay Duplass, Denis Leary's Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll or the miniseries The Long Road Home, which is broadcast in 173 countries .

Gundlach translated various musicals by Oscar winner Stephen Schwartz into German, for example Godspell , Children of Eden and The Baker's Wife . He also translated A New Brain and The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee by Tony Award winner William Finn.

Christian Gundlach worked at the TfN - Theater for Lower Saxony until the end of the 2011/2012 season . Here he founded and led the first repertoire musical company in Germany as director.

Gundlach is married to the American director Julia Ann Gundlach. The two have three daughters.
