The Landheim Ammersee is a boarding school with two high schools and one elementary school as well as a foundation in Schondorf am Ammersee (Bavaria). The campus with a total of 27 individual buildings and its own landing stage is located directly on the Ammersee . The name was changed from Landheim Schondorf to Landheim Ammersee in 2018. The foundation is still called the Landheim Schondorf Foundation.

The mission statement of the Landheim is "learning with head, heart and hand". The head stands for academic education, the heart for the community as well as the acquisition of social skills and the hand for practical training in craft, music, artistic and sports workshops.

history

The boarding school was founded in 1905 by Julius Lohmann as a rural education home . At the beginning only boys were accepted. In 1929 it was converted into a foundation by the couple Julie and Ernst Reisinger . The basic structure of the country home developed by both of them with teachers, who are also house parents and mentors, as well as the workshop program has been retained to this day. Today boys and girls are taught according to the principles of holistic pedagogy and modern teaching methods ( MODUS21 school ) and are prepared for the future. Rüdiger Häusler has been the foundation director since March 2016.

School profile

The Landheim has different types of schools. The state-approved Ernst-Reisinger-Gymnasium, the state-approved Julius-Lohmann-Schule and an elementary school boarding school. A language and an economics branch are offered. The country home offers space for 300 students, of whom around 200 previously lived in the boarding school. In the last few years the boarding school sector had to record a clear decline in pupils. 250 students are currently being trained in the Landheim, of which only about 125 are still in the boarding school (as of March 2016). The students come from Germany and abroad. The grammar school education is supplemented by the compulsory participation in craft ( locksmithing , carpentry , photo workshop and others), sporting ( sailing , rowing , hockey , tennis , golf , climbing ) and musical projects ( choir , band , theater ). The Landheim Schondorf am Ammersee Foundation, as the sponsor, awards performance and business grants .

Foreign language sequence

In the fifth grade, all students start with English as their first foreign language. In the sixth grade there is a choice between French and Latin . Eighth grade between French and Spanish in the linguistic branch or Business and Law in the economics branch. There is also the possibility of taking Chinese as an elective.

Student exchange

Regular student exchanges take place with partner schools in Japan, USA, Canada, Australia, Great Britain, Switzerland, Georgia and France . There are additional exchange opportunities with other schools in the Round Square international school network .

Day care center

In addition to the boarding school students, students from the surrounding area also visit the country home as so-called day home students.

Educational concept

"The main emphasis of upbringing should lie in the formation of character." The Landheim feels still committed to this principle from the foundation charter of 1929 according to its own self-image. Willingness to help, justice, honesty and responsibility should be recognized as the elementary values of human coexistence, and education should be oriented towards them.
