Heinz-Viktor Simon (born July 17, 1943 in Berlin ; † October 7, 2019 there ) was a German politician ( CDU ) and since 2016 city ​​elder of Berlin .

Life

Simon put 1963 the Abitur and then studied at the Free University of Berlin law . In 1974 he passed the second state law examination and became a lawyer . He worked as a board member at several Berlin housing associations , including GEHAG .

Simon joined the CDU while still at school in 1962. In the 1971 Berlin election he was elected to the district council in the Steglitz district. In the next election in 1975 he was elected a member of the Berlin House of Representatives. There he was active in parliament for 23 years until he resigned in October 1998 due to the principle of incompatibility . His successor was Gerald Mattern .

For years, Simon was involved in the Parliamentary Association of Berlin, most recently as an honorary member.

Private

Simon was married and had two sons. One of them is the CDU politician Roman Simon , who has also been a member of the House of Representatives since 2011.

Heinz-Viktor Simon suffered from dementia and last lived in a care facility in Berlin. He died in October 2019 at the age of 76.
