Heinz Ball (entrepreneur)

Heinz Ball (born August 14, 1902 in Stuttgart , † November 17, 1968 in Bonn ) was a German entrepreneur and inventor .

Life

Heinz Ball was born in 1902 as the son of the Stuttgart engineer and multiple patent holder Alfred Ball. After his apprenticeship, Heinz Ball ran an office for tax and business consulting in Bühl (Baden) until 1938 , bought the Bonn company Hebona in the same year , renamed it NOVO-Organisationsmittel GmbH and developed numerous filing and index card systems. He became known for the development of the file cover and the transparent cover for ring binders, the inventor of which he is still considered today.

After his death in 1968, his son Karlheinz Ball (* 1938) took over the company and developed it further, including the production and printing of plastic cards . He also developed the efficient production of ABDA punched cards for pharmacies together with Siemens AG . To date, around five billion ABDA cards have been produced for pharmacies in Germany , France , Austria and Switzerland . In total, NOVO now produces around 30 million cards made of plastic and wood pulp in credit card format as customer cards , gift cards , vouchers, admission cards or fan cards for Bundesliga clubs .
