Heinz Cibulka

Heinz Cibulka (born January 16, 1943 in Vienna ) is an Austrian photographer , action and object artist and writer.

Life

Heinz Cibulka grew up in Vienna- Favoriten . From 1957 to 1961 he attended the Graphic Education and Research Institute in Vienna. From 1965 he participated as a “passive actor” in actions by Rudolf Schwarzkogler and Hermann Nitsch . He has been working as a freelance artist since the 1970s. He created photo cycles, “picture poems” from four pictures each, object images and later digital picture collages.

In 1982 he co-founded the Austrian Photo Archive and in 1989 the FLUSS NÖ photo initiative , which he headed until 2000. He has been documenting the orgy mystery theater of his friend Hermann Nitsch since the 1980s. Cibulka is also an author of lyrical and conceptual texts. He often works with other artists. He has also been processing his photographs digitally since the 1990s.

Heinz Cibulka lives and works in Ladendorf in the Weinviertel . He is married to the photographer Magdalena Frey .
