Heinz Heineberg (born June 21, 1938 in Münster ) is a German geographer and emeritus university professor at the Westphalian Wilhelms University of Münster .

Life

Heineberg studied mathematics , geography , philosophy and physical education at the University of Münster from 1958 to 1965 . After the short-term legal clerkship at the municipal grammar school in Greven , he was research assistant to Peter Schöller at the Geographical Institute of the Ruhr University Bochum from 1965 to 1971 . In 1968 he received his doctorate on the subject of structural changes in economic geography on the Shetland Islands . 1971–1976 he was initially an academic councilor , then a senior councilor in Bochum, and completed his habilitation in 1974 with the writing Centers in West and East Berlin. Investigations on the problem of recording and evaluating urban functional center equipment in both economic and social systems in Germany . After holding the chair for geography at the University of Münster in 1975/76, he was appointed to the chair for anthropogeography in Münster at the end of 1976 and held it until his retirement in 2003. In 1983 he was responsible for organizing the German Geographers' Day in Münster. Since 2009 he has been teaching in the field of anthropogeography / urban geography at the University of Basel . Heinz Heineberg has been married to Barbara Heineberg since 1964. You have five children. One of Heinz Heineberg's hobbies is music (jazz and dance music with accordion, piano, clarinet and saxophones).

Functions (selection)

Heineberg held numerous functions during and after his university career. He is a member of the Geographical Commission for Westphalia in the Regional Association of Westphalia-Lippe and was its expert observer on the board and chairman of this scientific commission. I.a. He was a corresponding member of the advisory board of the Institute for Comparative Urban History, the University Structure Commission and the Geography Appointment Commission of all universities in Thuringia , Chairman of the German National Committee for Geography in the International Geographical Union (Chairman of the Committee for IGU (International Geographical Union) of the Federal Republic of Germany) , Expert reviewer for anthropogeography / economic geography of the DFG ( German Research Foundation ), deputy. Director of the Latin America Center of the University of Münster, ord. Member of the German Academy for Regional Studies and board member of the Center for Dutch Studies at the University of Münster . He was or is co-editor of the following series of publications: Munster Geographical Works; Reports of the urban and regional development work area; Urban research; Atlas of the Geographical Commission for Westphalia; Westphalian Geographical Studies; Settlement and landscape in Westphalia; Grundriss Allgemeine Geographie (sole editor since 2000).
