Heinz Hellmich (General)

Heinz Hellmich (born June 9, 1890 in Karlsruhe , † June 17, 1944 at Canville-la-Rocque near Cherbourg , France ) was a German lieutenant general in the Wehrmacht and commander of the 243rd Infantry Division in World War II . He was posthumously awarded the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross on September 2, 1944 .
