Heinz Köppendörfer

Heinz Köppendörfer (born March 9, 1936 in Augsburg ; † July 17, 2020 there ) was a German sports journalist .

Life

Köppendörfer played football as a child, as a goalkeeper at TSV Schwaben Augsburg . He was appointed to the youth national team by the German Football Association (DFB) and thus met world champion trainer Sepp Herberger . In the Oberliga Süd , at that time the highest German division, he stood between the posts for Schwaben Augsburg; In 1958 he moved to BC Augsburg. However, he gave up his footballing career during his studies.

He completed a teaching degree and initially practiced the teaching profession. In 1965 he was named the Carnival Prince of Augsburg's Perlachia. His work in the Augsburg cabaret "Die Scheibenwischer" was the springboard for a reporter career. Sammy Drechsel , member of the Munich Lach- und Schießgesellschaft and radio staff, discovered Köppendörfer's talent on stage. As a result, he worked as a reporter for Bayerischer Rundfunk from the 1970s . Later he was the presenter of the show Blickpunkt Sport on Bavarian television and moderated sports programs on the ARD program .

In total, the Augsburg native, who was always associated with his hometown, worked for radio and television for almost 40 years. The stars were happy to come to the fair and entertaining presenter in the studio. Köppendörfer also gave fringe sports a space. At the age of 65 he stopped his journalistic activities, but remained active, among other things as a book author.

Köppendörfer died after a long illness on the night of July 17th, 2020 at the age of 84.
