Heinz Küpper (writer)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Heinz Küpper (born November 10, 1930 in Euskirchen , † November 18, 2005 in Mechernich ) was a German writer .

life and work

Heinz Küpper studied German and history at the University of Bonn and the Free University of Berlin . From 1960 to 1988 he was a teacher at the St. Michael High School in Bad Münstereifel .

Küpper wrote primarily novels and short stories , but also wrote poems and essays as well as screenplays for television films , four of which were broadcast on German television ( NDR and ZDF ). Küpper made his debut in 1963 with the novel Simplicius 45 (Promotion Prize for Literature of the City of Cologne 1965), the processing of a German childhood and youth during the Nazi era . This widely acclaimed novel has been translated into eight languages.

Küpper's Berlin novel Der Zaungast , which describes and reflects the time of the 1950s from the perspective of a student coming from the western provinces, is also of particular importance .

The »Jakob novels«, which focus on the courageous priest and private detective Jakob, are located in the Eifel and Cologne .

The Konejung Foundation: Culture has owned the rights to Küpper's works since 2007 . A new edition of his books, including a novel from the estate, which deal with German history of the 20th century in a time-critical, ironic manner , is well advanced as a work edition (three novels so far, one of them with booklet, an anthology with estate texts and treatises on the writer).

Heinz Küpper lived in Bad Münstereifel for many years until his death .
