from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Heinz Kegel (born December 2, 1927 ) was a soccer goalkeeper in the GDR . With the BSG Turbine Halle he played in the Oberliga , the highest East German soccer class, and was East German champion in 1952.

Athletic career

Before Kegel moved to the GDR upper division club BSG Turbine Halle in 1951 at the age of 23, he was goalkeeper for the company sports association (BSG) Einheit Burg , with whom he last played in the second-rate GDR league . In the league season 1951/52 Kegel replaced the previous goalkeeper Arthur Richter in the goal of Turbine Halle and played 32 of the 36 league point games. He contributed to the fact that the Saalestädter had the best record of all 19 teams this season with only 42 goals against and were football champions of the GDR with only four defeats in 21 wins. In the following season 1952/53 , which extended over 32 games, Kegel guarded the gate of the BSG Turbine in another 19 matches. Then he was replaced by Wolfgang Meininger , who had come from Magdeburg , and no longer appeared in higher-class football.
