Arthur Richter (soccer player)

Arthur Richter (born February 15, 1920 ) is a former soccer goalkeeper. He played for the ZSG Union / BSG Turbine Halle in the top division of football in the GDR , the Oberliga . With Turbine Halle he became East German soccer champion in 1952.

Athletic career

When in 1949 the East Zone Master ZSG Union Halle was one of the founding teams of the football league established by the German Sports Committee , he nominated Arthur Richter as goalkeeper for the first league season. By 1952 Richter was in 51 league games in the goal of Halle, who called themselves BSG Turbine from 1950. When Turbine won the GDR championship in 1951/52 , Richter was only involved in four league appearances, ousted by the newly added Heinz Kegel . For the 1952/53 season, Richter moved to the third-rate district division BSG Motor Ammendorf . After that, Richter was no longer represented in higher-class football. During the popular uprising in 1953 Richter took an active part in the workers' demonstrations in Ammendorf .
