Heinz Kindermann (born June 20, 1942 in Welhota an der Elbe , Sudetenland ) is a German politician ( SPD ) who was a member of the European Parliament from 1994 to 2009 .

Life

education and profession

After attending school, Kindermann began an apprenticeship as a skilled worker for arable and crop production in 1956 . He then attended the workers and farmers faculty at the University of Rostock from 1959 , where he passed his Abitur in 1961 . He then completed a degree in veterinary medicine at the Humboldt University in Berlin , which he finished in 1967. In 1968 also his doctorate Dr. med. vet.

Kindermann worked from 1967 to 1990 as a practicing veterinarian in a group practice in Strasburg . In addition, from 1988 to 1990 he completed postgraduate training as a specialist veterinarian for small animals at the Karl Marx University in Leipzig . He then worked as an official veterinarian in Strasburg from 1990 to 1994. In 1992 he became head of the veterinary and food surveillance office at the district office in Strasburg.

Heinz Kindermann is married and has two children.

Kindermann was from 1991 to 1993 chairman of the SPD district association Strasburg and from 1992 to 1995 chairman of the SPD sub-district Uecker-Randow .

From 1990 to 1994 Kindermann belonged to the city ​​council of Strasburg and was also chairman of the SPD parliamentary group .

From 1994 to 2009 he was a member of the European Parliament . Kindermann was coordinator of the PES group for fisheries and spokesman for the SPD group for agriculture and fisheries. In the 2009 European elections , he decided not to run again.
