Heinz Ufer (composer)

Heinz Ufer (born February 4, 1934 in Langensteinbach ; † April 29, 2010 in Gorxheimertal ) was a German composer, educator and politician.

Life

Born in 1934 and raised in Langensteinbach in the northern Black Forest, Heinz Ufer initially devoted himself to music and later studied law, politics and religious studies in Berlin. From 1960 he worked in adult education in Mannheim, where he became director of the evening academy two years later. In 1996, Heinz Ufer became a professor at the National Elite University of Hangzhou in southern China .

From 1973 to 1981 he was a member of the SPD's Bergstrasse district council and a member of the Rhine-Neckar regional planning association. From 1981 to 1993 he was a member of the Broadcasting Council of the Süddeutscher Rundfunk. He was involved in the church synod and the church leadership and was chairman of the board of trustees of the volunteer academy of the Evangelical Church in Hesse and Nassau until his death in Gorxheimertal in the southern Odenwald.

In the early 80s, Ufer in Mannheim initiated Germany's first music school for adults. In it, Ufer founded his own string orchestra. He composed church music, including song cycles, a Christmas oratorio, a children's opera as well as settings based on texts and the like. a. by Sergej Jessenin , Erich Kästner , Gerd Hergen Lübben , Eduard Mörike . - Undivided applause and nationwide recognition for his dedicated commitment to the future of political education was Heinz banks, for example, on the occasion of his setting of sonnets-round dance "YEAR TO YEAR" by Gerd Hergenstadt Lubben at the premiere on 21 March 1998 at the Hambach Castle commemorating the revolution of 1848 and in the presence of the President of the German Bundestag Rita Süssmuth , when melody motifs of the Deutschlandlied were interwoven with parts of the earlier GDR hymn " Resurrected from ruins ". As a member of the Mannheim Masonic Lodge Zur Sonne im Right Angle , he was also involved in Masonic music.
