Heinz Wöltje

Heinz Wöltje (born January 4, 1902 in Hanover , † September 26, 1968 in Windhoek , Namibia ) was a German hockey player and later an official.

Heinz Wöltje made his debut in the German national hockey team in 1925 . At the Olympic Games in Amsterdam in 1928 , three players from the DHC Hanover were part of the German squad with him, Kurt Haverbeck and Herbert Hobein . In the opening game the German team won against Spain, then they lost 2-1 to the Dutch hosts, Wöltje scored the only goal for the German team. The full-back was absent from the game against France, but played a role in the game for third place against Belgium. Germany beat the Belgians 3-0 and won the bronze medal. Heinz Wöltje played a total of 12 international matches from 1925 to 1929.

After the Second World War , Wöltje was involved in the re-establishment of the German Hockey Association in 1949 and served as treasurer until 1965. In addition, he worked for many years as chairman at DHC Hanover. The DHC Hanover sports hall, inaugurated in 1970, was named after him.
