Heinz Werner (porcelain artist)
Heinz Werner (* 27. August 1928 in Coswig ; † 18th September 2019 ) was a German painter , graphic artist and porcelain - artists . He lived and worked in Coswig and Meißen in Saxony .
life and work
Heinz Werner was a Meissen artist from the second half of the 20th century. Werner was appointed decor designer in the factory in 1957. Together with Ludwig Zepner and Peter Strang, he founded the collective artistic development department at the Meissen Manufactory .
Heinz Werner designed around 100 modern Meissen decors, including popular ones such as 1001 Nights , Midsummer Night's Dream , Blue Orchid on a Branch or Hunter's Latin . In addition, Heinz Werner created numerous individual pieces for the Meissen manufactory. There are some murals made from Meissen porcelain by the artist on and in public buildings. He mastered all artistic techniques. In addition to working with porcelain, he mainly used watercolors, chalk and painting with oil and acrylic paints .
From 1978 Heinz Werner taught as a professor at the University of Art and Design Burg Giebichenstein near Halle (Saale) .
Werner's work can now be found in important art collections and museums in Germany, Japan and the USA.

- 1973: May 17, 1973 Art Prize of the GDR together with Rudi Stolle, Peter Strang and Ludwig Zepner.
