Heinz from Vienna is an Austrian band with German-language lyrics. Originally the band name was just "Heinz", but since there was already a band with the same name in Germany and they wanted to avoid legal problems, the name was simply expanded to include the addition "from Vienna ".
history
In 1995 "Heinz aus Wien" was founded by Michael Gaissmaier, Lelo Brossmann, Cornelius Dix and Bernd Jungmair. The band celebrated their first success with the song Alles Gute, FM4 , which they dedicated to the Austrian youth radio station FM4 on the occasion of its first birthday and which reached number 1 in the charts of the same station. The following songs, " Schlafen ohne dich" and " I drank beer with Tocotronic", were often heard on FM4 and increased the band's profile. The debut album Welsfischen am Volga Delta was released at the end of 1996, the second album Elektroboot, Please was released around a year later. After a label change to BMG , it was released in Pasadena , home country, in 2000 , while Germany was initially offered the preliminary single Lieb in Prinzip in February 2001 , which was followed by the album in March 2001. Karate appeared the following year . Both albums were deliberately kept a bit more poppy . After the release of the live album Live in Mexico in 2003, the guitarist Lelo Brossmann left the band. At the end of 2004 Heinz from Vienna presented himself with a new line-up, instead of Helmuth Brossmann the band was strengthened by the guitarists Paul Wallner and Markus Gartner. The fifth studio album It's a Crazy World was released in April 2005 , and the biography Steht ein Mann in Bremen was published for the band's ten-year anniversary .
At the end of 2007, the sixth studio album entitled Die Bunten Fahnen go over the world was released. In spring 2008 the band was selected for the soundtrack to the mockumentary Das Wunder von Wien: We are European Champions , released on May 30th, 2008 as a single.
Heinz from Vienna was nominated for an Amadeus Austrian Music Award in 2001, 2002 and 2003 .
In autumn 2010 Heinz from Vienna was nominated for the Austrian preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 .
In the late summer of 2016, Heinz signed her fourth major record deal with Sony Music Austria . The first single Mach the Augen auf appeared on October 28, 2016.
