Heiricus of Auxerre

Heiricus von Auxerre (* around 841; † after 875 ) was a theologian of the Benedictine order , who today is mainly noted for his knowledge of the classics.

Heiricus entered the Abbey of Saint-Germain in Auxerre as a monk . His main work is the Vita S. Germani , which he glossed over . He studied theology in Ferrières with Servatus Lupus and Haimo von Auxerre and also in Soissons and taught at the convent school . Heiricus is counted among the more important Carolingian writers. Remigius von Auxerre was one of his students and was his successor as theological teacher.
