Hejar
Hejar ( Kurdish ههژار, Persian هژار Hazhar ; real name Abdurahman Scharafkandi , Kurdish Ebdurehman Şerefkendî ; * 1921 in Mahabad ; † February 21, 1991 in Karaj ) was a Kurdish writer, poet, linguist and translator. Among other things, he translated the Koran into Kurdish and createda Kurdish- Persian dictionarywith the Henbane Borîne .
Life
Hejar was born in 1921 in Mahabad in northwestern Iran in the province of West Azerbaijan . He began religious studies in early childhood, but had to drop out at the age of 17 when his father died. From 1940 he wrote poems in Kurdish. Through his study of Kurdish literature, he was influenced by other Kurdish poets. These included Melayê Cezîrî , Ehmedê Xanî , Wefayi and Hajji Qadiri Koyi .
Hejar was involved in the Kurdish national movement, which was led by Qazi Mohammed . The Kurdistan Republic proclaimed in Mahabad (1947) had as one of its goals to promote Kurdish culture. Hejar became one of their official poets. After the end of the republic he was forced to go into exile.
For about 30 years he lived in different countries like Iraq , Syria , Lebanon and Egypt . In Iraq he came into contact with the Kurdish national movement again. It was headed by Mustafa Barzani , the former Defense Minister of the Republic of Mahabad. He was connected to Hejar by a close friendship. After the movement's defeat in 1975, Hejar returned to Iran and settled in the city of Karaj . He lived there until his death. He was buried in his native city of Mahabad.

His brother Sadegh Scharafkandi was a politician who was killed in the Mykonos attack in Berlin .
