Helen Hill

Helen Hill (born May 9, 1970 in Columbia , South Carolina , USA; † January 4, 2007 in New Orleans , Louisiana , USA) was an American film director who mainly directed short films and animated films, for which she received several awards.

Helen Hill studied English at the renowned Harvard University , from which she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) , and in the field of film and animation at the California Institute of the Arts . In the mid-1990s she directed her first animated films, some of which received awards. In 2001, she and her husband Dr. Paul Gailiunas, to New Orleans, where she has lived ever since.

On January 4, 2007, Hill was surprised and fatally injured by a burglar at her home. Her husband was seriously injured and her son Francis Pop Gailiunas was unharmed.
