Helene Lahr
Helene Lahr (actually Helene Birti-Lavarone ; born on January 9, 1894 in Vienna ; died on March 23, 1958 there ) was an Austrian writer and translator.
Life
Lahr came from an upper-class family, her aunt on her father's side was the women's rights activist and writer Rosa Mayreder . In 1918 she married an officer with whom she resided in Baden near Vienna until 1945 . Back in Vienna in 1945, she worked as an editor and translator of French and Polish literature for the Ullstein publishing house . She also published poetry and short prose. In 1955 a volume of stories was published.
Her partner and estate administrator Oskar Jan Tauschinski posthumously put together two volumes with poems and short prose from different periods of life.
