Helga Haftendorn

Helga Haftendorn (born September 9, 1933 in Erfurt ) is a professor emeritus for political science at the Free University of Berlin (FU Berlin).

Life

Helga Haftendorn passed the Abitur in Heidelberg in 1953 and studied political science, history, geography and philosophy at the universities of Heidelberg , Münster , Frankfurt and Arkansas . She did her doctorate in 1960 with Carlo Schmid in Frankfurt, and in 1972 she completed her habilitation at the University of Hamburg .

From 1973 to 1977 she was professor of political science with a focus on international relations at the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Hamburg . Since 1978 she has been professor of political science, in particular theory, empiricism and history of foreign and international politics, at the Free University of Berlin; at the end of 2000 she was retired. In the years 1996–2000 she was director of the office for transatlantic foreign and security policy at the Free University of Berlin.

Helga Haftendorn is still a member of the advisory board of the Atlantic Initiative .
