Hellmuth Reichel (born November 16, 1900 in Chropaczow , district of Beuthen , † June 26, 1962 in Bad Pyrmont ) was a German balneologist and professor .

Life

Reichel grew up in the Upper Silesian industrial town of Chropaczow, which was renamed Schlesiengrube in 1909 , and graduated from high school there . He then studied medicine at the University of Breslau and was active in the Corps Silesia during this time . After passing his medical state examination in 1924, Reichel worked in Bautzen , Gelsenkirchen , Berlin and Leipzig . He completed his habilitation in internal medicine at the University of Leipzig . In 1936 he went to Bad Pyrmont as head of the Balneological Institute and at the same time opened a practice as a spa doctor. During the Second World War he was deployed in various places and was promoted to senior staff doctor. After the end of the war he returned to Bad Pyrmont and, in addition to his practice and the balneological institute, worked as a lecturer for balneology at the University of Göttingen , where he was also appointed as an adjunct professor in 1962.
