The building at Helmstedter Chaussee 39a is a listed residential building in the Magdeburg district of Alt Olvenstedt in Saxony-Anhalt .

It is located west of the Alt Olvenstedter town center on the south side of Helmstedter Chaussee.

Architecture and history

The two-story house faces the street and its core probably dates back to the mid-19th century. It was created as the residential building of a large three-sided courtyard . The six-axis facade of the plastered building in its current form was designed in the neo-baroque style at the end of the 19th century . The ground floor has rustication , while the upper floor is decorated with stucco elements in Baroque shapes. So come balusters , cartridges and Schweifgiebelchen in the window used. There are floral decorations on the eaves . The building is covered with a gable roof .

On the west side there is an elongated farm building at right angles. The one and a half story plastered building is made of rubble stones . There are hatch-like segmental arched windows on its upper floor . The commercial building is covered with a hipped roof . Behind the extension there is a cottage garden with a small orchard (as of 2009).

The complex is considered to be a relevant historical testimony to the formerly agricultural structure of Alt Olvenstedt. At the same time, the facade of the residential building is an example of the adoption of urban architecture in rural areas during the Wilhelminian era .

In the local register of monuments , the system is listed as a monument under registration number 094 81907 .
