Helmut Allardt
Helmuth Allardt (born March 20, 1907 in Königsberg , † August 22, 1987 in Munich ) was a German diplomat and ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Jakarta , Madrid and Moscow .
Life
He was the son of an officer. After studying law and receiving his doctorate in 1935 at the University of Göttingen , he joined the diplomatic service of the Foreign Office after a brief academic career . Allardt began his career as a legation secretary at the German embassy in Tehran (until 1940). On August 1, 1939, he joined the NSDAP .
After almost two years in the Federal Ministry of Economics, he was involved in the development of the trade policy department of the Foreign Office of the Federal Republic of Germany from 1950. From 1954 to 1958 Allardt was the German ambassador in Jakarta ( Indonesia ) before he was appointed General Director for the "overseas territories" by the EEC Commission in 1958 .
In 1961 he took over the management of the trade policy department of the Foreign Office and in 1961/62 led the first trade treaty negotiations with the People's Republic of Poland . a. the exchange of trade missions was. From 1963 he was the German ambassador in Madrid ( Spain ) for almost five years before Federal Foreign Minister Willy Brandt sent Allardt to Moscow ( Soviet Union ) as ambassador in 1968 . There Allardt took part in the negotiations on Brandt's Ostpolitik and helped to prepare the Moscow Treaty , which was signed on August 12, 1970 .
Moscow was his last post; Allardt left the diplomatic service in March 1972 for reasons of age. He died on August 22, 1987.
He had been a member of the Corps Normannia Berlin since 1928 .
