Helmut Arndt (economist)
Helmut Hoyer Arndt (born May 11, 1911 in Königsberg , † October 27, 1997 in Berlin ) was a German economist .
Life
Helmut Arndt received his doctorate in Marburg in 1946 and taught economics in the USA , in Istanbul and from 1953 at the TU Darmstadt . In 1957 he went to the Free University of Berlin . Here he became a professor of general economics and economic policy. He held this position until his retirement in 1978. He was also director of the Institute for Concentration Research, Director of the Institute for Economics and Director of the Economics Library at the Free University of Berlin.
Helmut Arndt was the son of the lawyer and university professor G. Adolf Arndt and the brother of Adolf Arndt . He was married to Elfriede Charlotte geb. Krause and had two children.
