Helmut Batlogg

Helmut Batlogg (born July 1, 1940 in Alberschwende ) is a former Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and civil engineer . Batlogg was a member of the Vorarlberg state parliament from 1979 to 1999 and mayor of the Bezau market town from 1990 to 1997 .

Life

Helmut Batlogg was born on July 1, 1940 as the son of the road foreman Johann Batlogg and his wife Zita in the Bregenzerwald community of Alberschwende . After attending elementary school in Alberschwende and the secondary school in Bezau Batlogg initially began an apprenticeship as a bricklayer in Andelsbuch , before the 1959 Higher Technical School in Innsbruck moved where he 1964 Matura made. From 1964 to 1965 he did military service and in 1965 began studying at the Graz University of Technology , which he completed in 1971 with a graduate degree in engineering. Between 1972 and 1975 Batlogg then worked at short notice for the architect Mang in Vienna, the Rudolf Ölz company in Dornbirn and Jakob Albrecht in Bregenz. In 1975 he got a permanent position as a teacher at the HTL Rankweil . From 1980 Helmut Batlogg worked as a freelance civil engineer for building construction in Bezau.

After retiring from active politics, Batlogg worked as a self-employed civil engineer in Bezau until 2009, before he retired.

He lives in Bezau with his wife Veronika, with whom he has three children.

Since 1966 he has been a member of the Catholic student association KÖStV Traungau Graz in the ÖCV .

After joining the Austrian People's Party, Helmut Batlogg was elected for the first time in 1975 as a substitute member of the municipal council of his home parish in Bezau. At the next municipal council election in 1980 he was elected both a member of the municipal council and a councilor and deputy mayor of the market town of Bezau. Batlogg got into state politics on November 6, 1979, when he was sworn in as a member of the Bregenz electoral district in Vorarlberg's state parliament as a result of the regional election in Vorarlberg in 1979 . In this he remained as a member of parliament for four legislative periods until October 4, 1999, when he left after the state election on September 19 . From April 1990 to December 31, 1997, Helmut Batlogg was also mayor of the market town of Bezau.
