Helmut Berninger
Helmut Günter Berninger (born August 5, 1927 in Munich ; † July 1, 2011 there ) was a German painter, architect and philosopher.
Life
Helmut Berninger completed an apprenticeship as a painter from 1942 to 1944. In 1945 he was drafted into the navy and became a prisoner of war. From 1947 to 1948 he studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich with Willi Geiger . Between 1949 and 1956 he created woodcuts, illustrations, vignettes in various art magazines, feature articles (Süddeutsche Zeitung, Neue Zeitung) and theater programs. In 1953 he decided to paint only abstractly .
