Helmut Fingerhut

Helmut Fingerhut (born November 22, 1921 in Frankfurt am Main ; † September 21, 2016 in Bad Soden am Taunus ) was a German administrative officer.

Life

After completing a commercial apprenticeship in printing and publishing, he joined the municipal administration of Frankfurt am Main in the higher-level non-technical administrative service. From 1940 to 1945 he was drafted into the Reich Labor Service and then military service. In 1945 he was taken prisoner of war. From 1953 on he was administrative director of the University Psychiatric Clinic, from 1956 administrative director of the Frankfurt-Höchst City Hospital and head of the Foundation of the Hospital of the Holy Spirit and from 1960 to 1970 head of the Frankfurt City Administration's personnel office.

In June 1970 he moved to the Federal Ministry of Defense as head of the Housing, Real Estate and Construction Department . Two years later he was appointed state secretary under Georg Leber . After his resignation in February 1978, Fingerhut was put into temporary retirement. After the federal election in 1980 he became a permanent state secretary in the Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs . After the break of the social-liberal coalition in autumn 1982, he retired.

Fingerhut lived in Schwalbach am Taunus and most recently in Bad Soden am Taunus . He died in September 2016 at the age of 94.
