Helmut Gabriel (born October 3, 1968 ) is a former German soccer player .

Career

Helmut Gabriel took part as a youth player in the U-16 World Cup in 1985 and was runner-up. At that time he played for SC Neheim , from which he moved to FC Schalke 04 . From Schalke Gabriel went to Switzerland to FC Winterthur , after a year he returned to Germany to BSV Stahl Brandenburg . He played a year in the GDR Oberliga and a year in the 2nd Bundesliga , in which the last place in the table was occupied, which was followed by relegation. Gabriel joined in 1992 to VfB Leipzig and climbed to the 1992/93 season in a season in which, the game year with 24 teams Bundesliga on.
