Helmut Kreuzhuber

Helmut Kreuzhuber (born February 7, 1938 in Ried im Innkreis ; † January 10, 2009 ) was a lieutenant general of the Austrian Armed Forces , most recently military commander of Upper Austria .

Life

Helmut Kreuzhuber was born on February 7, 1938 in Ried im Innkreis as the son of a merchant family. After he was retired as an officer at the Theresian Military Academy in 1965 , he subsequently held various higher positions.

After his training at the 7th General Staff Course , Kreuzhuber was employed in the management department of Section III at the Federal Ministry of Defense until 1977 , and from 1977 to 1981 he was Chief of Staff at the 3rd Panzer Grenadier Brigade in Lower Austria.

This was followed by a foreign assignment as a defense attaché in Sweden. From 1985 to 1992 Kreuzhuber held various functions in the then army command and in the general troop inspectorate. From April 1, 1993, Helmut Kreuzhuber held the position of military commander of Upper Austria until he retired at the end of May 2001 after being promoted to corps commander .

Others

Kreuzhuber lived in Mautern an der Donau , was married and had two children. He died on January 10, 2009 after a serious illness.
