Helmut Kurt Weber

Helmut Kurt Weber (born November 22, 1933 in Roth ) is a German economist and university professor.

Life

After high school at Werner-von-Siemens-Gymnasium in White Castle in 1953, he studied economics at the Universities of Munich and Nuremberg as well as at Florida Southern College in Lakeland , Florida . There he earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1955. In 1958 he completed his studies with a degree in business administration in Nuremberg .

He then received his doctorate in 1962 in Nuremberg with Erich Schäfer on the subject of "Planning in the company", at whose chair at the Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg he also worked as an assistant. There he also wrote his habilitation with the topic "The sales market of industrial companies, forms and types". He further developed the “typologizing approach” in business administration , which was devised by his academic teacher, and transferred it in particular to the field of accounting .

After a substitute professor at the University of Hamburg in 1968/1969, he was appointed full professor at the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen in 1969 . There he held the chair for business administration, in particular for business accounting and for industrial business administration. Until his retirement in 2002, he remained loyal to the University of Göttingen despite several appointments at other universities.

Weber was very committed to the training and promotion of young academics in the field of business administration : For example, the later university professors Wolfgang Fricke ( HAW Hamburg ) and Silvia Rogler ( Bergakademie ) were at the institute for accounting and auditing of private and public companies that he heads Freiberg ), Andreas Schiller ( Hanover University of Applied Sciences ), Bettina Schneider ( Aachen University of Applied Sciences ), Wilhelm Schneider ( Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences ) and Klaus-Rüdiger Veit ( Kiel University ), active as his assistants and doctoral students.

The best-known students outside of the university sector include the chairman of the B. Braun Melsungen AG board , Heinz-Walter Große , the board member of Knorr Bremse AG , Lorenz Zwingmann , and the Putzmeister GmbH Renate Neumann-Schäfer .
