Helmut Kury

Helmut Kury (born December 4, 1941 in Glottertal ) is a German psychologist and criminologist .

Kury received his doctorate in 1974 at the University of Freiburg and completed his habilitation there in 1984. He was the first director of the Criminological Research Institute of Lower Saxony and then professor for forensic psychology in Freiburg and at the Max Planck Institute for Foreign and International Criminal Law .

He became known to the general public as an appraiser in connection with the early pardon of Christian Klar . Furthermore, with an expert opinion each on the German brothers Rudi and Michael Apelt, who were sentenced to the death penalty for the murder of the wife of one of the two, Cindy M., in Phoenix / Arizona, Rudi Apelt was sentenced to death in 2009 due to mental retardation Was commuted to life imprisonment.
