Helmut Liedermann
Helmut Liedermann (born August 10, 1926 in Vienna ; † June 29, 2019 in Vienna) was an Austrian ambassador .
Life
Helmut Liedermann was the son of Wanda and Hans Liedermann, a member of the Supreme Court of Austria. He studied law and political science at the University of Vienna and received his doctorate in law in 1950 .
In 1955 he joined the foreign service. From 1957 to 1962 he was employed in Warsaw, where he acted as chargé d'affaires in 1962 . From 1962 to 1965 he worked in the Foreign Ministry, where he headed the personnel department in 1965.
From 1962 he was a member of the examination commission for international law of the state examination commission of the University of Vienna .
From September 22, 1965 to March 13, 1971, Liedermann was consul general in Berlin and headed the Austrian delegation in West Berlin. From 1971 to 1977 he headed the East-West Relations Department, CSCE in the Foreign Ministry, and from 1972 to 1975 the Austrian delegation to the CSCE in Geneva. From 1977 to 1981 he was ambassador to Belgrade and accredited to the government in Tirana, 1981 to 1986 he was ambassador to Moscow and accredited to the government in Ulaanbaatar , Mongolia . From 1986 to 1992 he was the representative of the Austrian government for the World Conference on Human Rights in Vienna .
Since 1996 he has been visiting professor at York College of Pennsylvania.
