Helmut Rüßmann (legal scholar)

Helmut Rüßmann (* 1943 in Dortmund ) is a German legal scholar .

He studied in Frankfurt and Washington and then worked from 1970 to 1972 as a research assistant and from 1972 to 1975 as a lecturer in Frankfurt. In 1975 he took over a professorship in Bremen . From 1987 to 2012 he taught and researched at Saarland University , where he held a chair for civil law, civil procedural law and legal philosophy.

In addition, Helmut Rüßmann was a judge at the Hanseatic Higher Regional Court in Bremen from 1978 to 1987 and a judge at the Saarland Higher Regional Court from 1989 to 1999 .

Professor Rüßmann was one of the directors of the Institute for Legal Informatics until 2010 and was responsible for the legal internet project in Saarbrücken . In addition, he was a board member of the Association of German EDV Court Days until 2010 . V.

One of his main areas of activity is in the field of e-learning . For example, he provides extensive learning materials on the website of his former chair, which are also taken into account outside the Saarland University.

From 1992 onwards, as a representative of the Faculty of Law and Economics at the Saarland University in Japan , he campaigned for cooperation with Keiō University . For this commitment he was awarded an honorary doctorate by the Keiō in October 2005 . Since January 2013 he has been teaching at the Hamburger Fern-Hochschule (HFH).
