Helmut Wahmann

Heinrich Ernst Helmut Wähmann (born February 10, 1901 in Dresden ; † August 27, 1964 in Berlin-Kladow ) was a German SA and SS leader.

Wähmann was the son of the teacher Hermann Friedrich Wähmann.

In 1920 Wähmann joined the Reichswehr Jäger Battalion 23. In 1921 he participated with various volunteer corps in the suppression of the uprisings in Central Germany and Upper Silesia .

In 1922 he joined the NSDAP for the first time . After studying economics at the TH Dresden from 1921 to 1923 , he worked as a businessman in the Netherlands from 1923 to 1925 . Subsequently, he studied from 1925 to 1926 three semesters Law in Berlin without acquiring a degree. From 1927 to 1929 he worked as chief accountant and authorized signatory in Dresden and Berlin.

On August 25, 1930, Wähmann rejoined the NSDAP ( membership number 312.843). Shortly afterwards, on September 30, 1930, he also became a member of the Schutzstaffel (membership number 4988). On April 5, 1931, he moved to the Sturmabteilung (SA). In this he was promoted on February 1, 1932 to Sturmbannführer , on September 9, 1932 to Standartenführer and on February 15, 1934 to SA Brigade Leader.

In the years 1933 to 1935 Wähmann held the post of chief of staff at the head of the training system of the SA. On March 19, 1935, he returned to the SS, where he received the rank of SS Oberführer . In this he officiated in the following years from June 20, 1935 to March 21, 1938 as staff leader of the SS Upper Section West , based in Düsseldorf .

In 1938 Wähmann was expelled from the SS with effect from March 21, 1938 for embezzlement committed by him. He was also sentenced to one year in prison.

Wähmann's estate is now in the Federal Archives in Berlin.
