Helmut Wendelborn

Helmut Wendelborn (born December 19, 1926 in Travemünde ; † October 24, 2003 in Lübeck ) was a German entrepreneur and politician ( CDU ).

Life

Wendelborn worked as an entrepreneur in the field of public passenger transport. His company, the Lübeck-Travemünder Verkehrsgesellschaft (LVG), founded in 1945 , was taken over by today's Stadtverkehr Lübeck by way of a company acquisition during his lifetime .

As a politician, Wendelborn was initially a civil committee member of the Lübeck citizenship from 1955 , to which he also belonged as a mandate holder from 1982 to 1990. During this time he was also an honorary senator for the Hanseatic city .

Wendelborn was from 1957 to 1972, first over the constituency Lübeck , a member of the Bundestag . In the sixth electoral term he moved into the Bundestag in 1971 as a replacement for Gerhard Stoltenberg on the Schleswig-Holstein state list . In 1972 he received the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany on ribbon and in 1991 the plaque of honor from the Senate of the Hanseatic City of Lübeck.

The focus of his mainly economic policy work was in the areas of transport policy and issues relating to the seaside resort of Travemünde. During the time of his national political activity, the first expansion of the Travemünder Skandinavienkai under the Lübeck Mayor Max Wartemann to become the largest ferry port on the Baltic Sea today .
