Helmut Wiesenegg

Helmut Wiesenegg (born November 30, 1947 in Breitenwang , Tyrol ; † January 28, 2014 in Innsbruck , Tyrol) was an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ).

Life

After attending primary and secondary school, Helmut Wiesenegg learned the profession of electrical installer . After completing his military service, he trained as a communications engineer at Telekom Austria and the Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) .

As a teenager he was a member of the Socialist Youth of Austria (SJÖ). That is why he successfully ran for the office of mayor of Reutte in 1998 . He held this office for twelve years, until 2010.

In October 2003 Wiesenegg became a member of the Federal Council in Vienna , the second Austrian parliamentary chamber. He was a member of her until June 2008. In the first half of 2008 he also acted as Secretary of the Federal Council.

Helmut Wiesenegg was married and had a son.
