Helmut Wolff (artist)

Helmut Wolff (born April 9, 1932 in Mainz-Laubenheim ) is a German visual artist .

Life

1951–1957 he studied at the University of Fine Arts in Berlin , where he was a master student of Hans Uhlmann . In 1958 he took part in the international competition for a memorial in Auschwitz ; in the jury and a. Henry Moore . From 426 designs from 36 countries, he was the only German selected for the best seven designs. In 1959 he received a scholarship from the Berlin Academy of Arts in the Villa Massimo ( Rome ). In the same year he received a scholarship from the Kulturkreis in the Federal Association of German Industry .

In 1966 he was an assistant at the Technical University of Berlin , architecture department - sculptural design. From 1979 to 1981 Wolff taught art education at the Droste-Hülshoff-Gymnasium in Berlin-Zehlendorf . Between 1983 and 1984 he was a lecturer at the Oberlin Seminar, a college for educators in Berlin-Grunewald .

Helmut Wolff lives as a freelance painter and sculptor in Berlin-Charlottenburg . In 1991 he set up a second studio in Brittany .
