Helmuth Bendt

Helmuth Bendt (born January 7, 1939 in Düren , † October 26, 1999 near Alicante , Spain ) was a German television presenter .

Life

After graduating from high school, Bendt began a traineeship at the Dürener Nachrichten, a local edition of the Aachener Nachrichten . In 1960 he won the SWF reporter competition in Baden-Baden . He did an internship at SWF until 1962, while Bendt also worked for Saarland Broadcasting .

Since September 1, 1962 he was in the service of ZDF . There he initially worked as an editor and reporter for politics and current affairs, from 1964 also as a sports reporter and editor, but was also employed as a speaker and director in this same area. Together with Karlheinz Rudolph , he set up the program Die Drehscheibe . From January 1, 1974, he presented the program Sparring (monthly, every Saturday at 4 p.m.), a rare excursion by Bendt into pure entertainment.

Helmuth Bendt was best known as the presenter of the current sports studio on ZDF. From 1963 to 1981 he hosted 30 issues of the sports program. In 1975 he received the Golden Camera and in 1976 the Bambi as an award. Bendt was also the author of sports books.

In the 1980s, Bendt moved to the private broadcaster Sat.1 and became head of sports there.

In 1993 Helmuth Bendt's partner died at the age of 47. In his final years, Bendt spent a lot of time in Spain. Helmuth Bendt died on October 26, 1999 at the age of 60 near the Spanish city of Alicante . The burial took place in the New Cemetery of his hometown Düren.
