Helmuth Lehner (born December 7, 1968 in Korneuburg , Lower Austria ) is an Austrian singer, guitarist and composer from the field of black metal .

Life

Lehner is the founder and front man of the black metal band Belphegor and its predecessor band Betrayer, founded in 1991, and has been the only permanent member since the beginning. Before that he played in the Austrian heavy metal band Speed ​​Limit , under the stage name Hel Lennart . Lehner composes and writes all of his songs himself and, with the help of artists, designs his record covers, music videos and photos according to his ideas and specifications. In 2011, on a tour of South America, he was infected with typhus , which damaged his heart valve , so that a metal prosthesis had to be inserted. In 2016 he was attacked by a representative of the religious right in Russia. Massive censorship of the performances and the subsequent termination of his band's tour followed. Lehner is unmarried and lives in Salzburg .
