from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Helstorf church cemetery is a listed cemetery in the former village of Helstorf near Neustadt am Rübenberge, which was laid out in the Middle Ages . The facility is located at Brückenstrasse 10 in the town.

description

The Helstorfer Kirchfriedhof includes the first church in the village , which was built in the 13th century and was first mentioned in 1438 as "Helstorpe kerkhere" . In 1751 it was replaced by a new building. The sacred building is now surrounded by a stone wall, which - as part of the overall complex - marks the course of the historic church cemetery, which was extended to Fährmannsweg until the Kingdom of Hanover in 1855, but soon its narrow boundaries had to blow up.

In keeping with the tradition of the Sepulchral Culture , the iron gate of the gate, dated 1882, bears the Latin word “ in pace ”.

BW

The church cemetery has a few free-standing tombs in the form of " baroque steles " between a loose population of oaks . Most of these date from the 19th century, before the end of the burial site was abandoned.

During the Weimar Republic , the abandoned church cemetery was expanded to include a memorial to commemorate the victims of the First World War .

In 1978 some baroque grave steles that were endangered by the weather were moved under the canopy of the boiler house east of the church.
