The church Helstorf is the main church of the parish of Helstorf in the parish of Neustadt-Wunstorf in the Hanover district of the Evangelical Lutheran regional church of Hanover . The parish includes the Neustadt districts of Luttmersen , Warmeloh , Vesbeck , the Wedemärk district of Duden-Rodenbostel and the chapel community of Abbensen .

Previous construction

A previous building was probably built in the 13th century. The Helstorfer Church was first mentioned in 1438 as "Helstorpe kerkhere". It was a Romanesque house stone church, from which the bell tower and the baptismal font have been preserved. The nave of the previous church was torn down and replaced in 1751 by today's larger building.

In connection with the west tower, a hall church with a six-axis nave was built in 1750–1751 . The interior is covered with a semicircular barrel. All around are built-in prieces as supports. The choir is separated by the altar wall.

The altar wall was relocated in the 1970s as part of the de-Baroque era, reducing the size of the choir. Today the area behind the altar serves as the sexton's workspace . The church furnishings (altar, priechen, benches) were given a new color in line with contemporary tastes, but not removed.

altar

The pulpit altar from 1751 comes from the workshop of Johann Friedrich Ziesenis . It has a single-storey structure with a Corinthian column position, strong cranks, a gable top with a broken cornice and vase crowns.

The altarpiece depicts Jesus with his disciples at the Lord's Supper. The roast hare on the table is noteworthy, but it is also found in other depictions of the Lord's Supper in the region (e.g. Jakobuskirche Hagen (Neustadt a. Rbge.) ).

baptism

The Romanesque baptismal font used today comes from the previous building, probably even an earlier church building.

The baroque baptismal angel from 1751 originally hung in the middle of the choir and could be lowered by means of a mechanism. He held the baptismal bowl in his hands. This, also from 1751, still exists and is now placed in the top of the baptismal font when baptizing.

organ

The romantic, single-manual organ from 1864 comes from the workshop of the organ builder Carl Heyder . It has seven registers and a neo-Gothic prospectus . The organ was restored in 2007 by Bartelt Immer .

Peal

  • Petrus Bell from 1489
  • Clock bell from 1718
  • Bell from 1722
  • two bells from 1925
