Samuele Ricci (born August 21, 2001 in Pontedera ) is an Italian football player who is under contract with the second division club FC Empoli . The midfielder has been the Italian U19 international since March 2019 .

Career

The Pontedera born Samuele Ricci comes from the youth education of FC Empoli , where he played in different age groups. In summer 2018 he was promoted to the U19 team and was considered an absolute regular there in the 2018/19 season. In April 2019 he was in the first team's matchday squad for the first time, but was not taken into account in the remainder of the season and could not prevent the team from relegating to Serie B. In the Primavera, however, he played a total of 32 league games in which he scored two goals. For the following season 2019/20 he was ordered to the men's team On September 21, 2019 (4th matchday) he made his debut in the 1-0 home win against AS Cittadella in the second-highest Italian division, when he played for Leo Štulac in the 67th minute of play was substituted on. As a result, Ricci quickly established himself in the starting line-up of the Azzurri .

National team

In December 2017, Samuele Ricci played for the Italian U17 national team for the first time . With this selection he took part in the U17 European Championship in England in 2018 . At the tournament he played five of the six Azzurrini games . In the final defeat against the Netherlands , he achieved the interim 1: 1 equalization. Overall, he was on the pitch for the U17s in 12 games, in which he netted three times. Between August 2018 and February 2019, he made six international matches for the U18s , in which he scored once.

Ricci has been working for the U19s since March 2019 . In July of the same year he played in three group matches for this age group at the U19 European Championships in Armenia in 2019 .
