Hemmesta is part of the Gustavsberg och Hemmesta crime scene in the Swedish province of Stockholm County and the historic province of Uppland .
It is located on the island of Värmdö in the municipality of Värmdö , about 5 km east of the center of Gustavsberg and 25 km east of central Stockholm . Hemmesta is the commercial center of the eastern part of Värmdö. There is a supermarket with a post office and other service companies.
The place name, which goes back to the name of a farm, the location and some grave fields suggest that Hemmesta was already inhabited in the Swedish Iron Age , i.e. before 1000 AD. However, there are no longer any old buildings in the village.
Before 2015, Hemmesta was an independent crime scene with 5,240 inhabitants at last (2010), but gradually grew together with Torsby to the north and Mörtnäs, which is adjacent to Gustavsberg to the west, to form a virtually continuously built-up area, which has since been the scene of the crime, Gustavsberg och Hemmesta with over 20,000 inhabitants ( 2015) forms.
