Hendrik Timmer (born February 8, 1904 in Utrecht , † November 13, 1998 in Bilthoven ) was a Dutch tennis player . He was also national champion in squash and a successful golfer .

Life

Hendrik Timmer won the bronze medal in mixed doubles with his partner Cornelia Bouman at the 1924 Summer Olympics in Paris . He reached the quarter-finals at Wimbledon twice in his career , in 1927 and 1929. Between 1923 and 1936, Timmer appeared in 26 games for the Dutch Davis Cup team . It won 32 of his 47 single games and eleven of his 18 double games. With a total of 43 games won, Timmer is to date the Dutch player with the most wins in Davis Cup history.

Like his Olympic partner Bouman, Timmer was also successful in other disciplines: He won several golf tournaments and in 1941 became the Dutch national champion in squash . He also took part in the Elfstedentocht three times .

On November 13, 1998, just four days before Cornelia Bouman , Timmer died at the age of 94 in Bilthoven .
