Hengelau is a hamlet with about 30 inhabitants (2012) from Stockach in the Baden-Württemberg district of Konstanz in Germany .

The village, which belongs to the Winterspüren district, is located around 2.3 kilometers northeast of the center of Stockach at an altitude of around 600  m above sea level. NHN . North of Hengelau rises up to 624.4  m above sea level. NHN high Kramer .

history

Hengelau was mentioned in a document in 1380, then called Hegginloch , later Hegnylo , Hegnilaw and from 1549 Henngelaw . From the beginning of the 19th century one spoke of a community, in 1811 there was even a mayor . Until 1934 Hengelau was self-governing, there was a wagon and an inn in the village. Then the hamlet was incorporated after winter traces.

Personalities

Mathias Steinmann from Hengelau built the Loreto Chapel in Stockach in 1727.
