Hengshan ( 横山 区 , Héngshān Qū ) is a district of the prefecture -level city of Yulin in the north of Shaanxi Province in the People's Republic of China . It has an area of ​​4299 km² with a north-south extension of about 100 km and an east-west extension of about 96 km. At the end of 2012 it had 370,800 registered residents and 289,500 resident residents. Its main town is the street district Hengshan (横山 街道). Hengshan is bordered by Yuyang in the north, Mizhi in the east, Zizhou in the southeast, Zichang in the south, Jingbian in the southwest and the Uxin banner in the northwest.

The annual average temperature is 8.6 ° C, the annual precipitation 397 mm. The area of ​​Hengshan is located in the south of the Mu-Us desert and is crossed by parts of the Great Wall of China from the Ming Dynasty as well as the Wuding River and its tributaries Lu and Dali .

Hengshan is on the Shenmu – Yan'an railway line . The Qingdao – Yinchuan (G20) and Baotou – Maoming (G65) motorways as well as the 307 national road and 204 provincial road run through Hengshan.

Hengshan has deposits of coal , kaolinite , clay , iron ore and quartz .

In the district are the ruins of the ancient city of Yinzhou (银 州 故城, Yínzhōu gù chéng ) from the time of the Qin , Han and Tang dynasties , and in the greater municipality of Tawan (塔 湾镇) are the Yuan-temporal Hongmen -Pagoda (鸿 门 寺塔, Hóngmén sì tǎ ), which has been on the list of monuments of the People's Republic of China since 2013 . Additionally, sections of the Ming Dynasty Great Wall, Boluo Fortified City, Wulong Shan Mountain, and Wulong Cave are in the Hengshan area.
