The Gundbach is a nearly twenty-four kilometer long brook in southern Hesse that drains into the Rhine via the Schwarzbach. The upper course is called Hengstbach .
geography
course
The Hengstbach rises south of Frankfurt am Main in the Offenbach district between Dreieich-Götzenhain and Dietzenbach-Hexenberg . It crosses the Dreieich districts of Götzenhain, Dreieichenhain , Sprendlingen and Buchschlag before passing Zeppelinheim . The brook mostly has a natural bed, but in Sprendlingen it is mostly set in concrete.
Behind Zeppelinheim, the brook runs for a distance of about 800 meters parallel to federal motorway 5 and then south of CargoCity South of Frankfurt airport through the Gundwald, the southernmost part of the Frankfurt district. From there he bears the name Gundbach.
The Hengstbach receives a not inconsiderable supply of treated water from the sewage treatment plant of the former Rhein-Main Air Base, the current Cargo City Süd.
The stream crosses the city limits of Mörfelden-Walldorf , where it flows along the outskirts of Walldorf. The stream has been allowed to run free again there since the 1980s, and a variety of flora and fauna has developed since then. At the Mönchbruch hunting lodge , the Gundbach flows together with the Geräthsbach , creating the Schwarzbach .

The stream flows through the fauna-flora-habitat Mark- and Gundwald between Rüsselsheim and Walldorf and then through the nature reserve Mönchbruch von Mörfelden and Rüsselsheim and Gundwiesen von Mörfelden .
