Hengstbach was an independent municipality until 1969 and has been part of the Zweibrück district of Mittelbach-Hengstbach since 1972 .

location

Hengstbach is a street village and is located in the Westrich plateau in the southwestern urban area of Zweibrücken, not far from the border with Saarland . The eponymous Hengstbach , an orographically left tributary of the Bickenalb , grazes the southern edge of the settlement.

history

Until 1792 the place belonged to Pfalz-Zweibrücken . From 1798 to 1814, when the Palatinate was part of the French Republic (until 1804) and then part of the Napoleonic Empire , Hengstbach was incorporated into the canton of Medelsheim . In 1815 the place had 214 inhabitants. Then the place changed to the Kingdom of Bavaria . Since the canton Medelsheim was dissolved in 1817, the place moved to the canton Zweibrücken . From 1818 to 1862 the place was part of the Landkommissariat Zweibrücken , which was then converted into a district office.

In 1928, Hengstbach had 372 residents who lived in 66 residential buildings. From 1938 the place was part of the district of Zweibrücken . After the Second World War , Hengstbach became part of the then newly formed state of Rhineland-Palatinate within the French occupation zone . In the course of the first Rhineland-Palatinate administrative reform, the place was incorporated into the neighboring community of Mittelbach on June 7, 1969 . Three years later this was incorporated into the independent city of Zweibrücken, which has since formed the Mittelbach-Hengstbach district there.

politics

Hengstbach and Mittelbach form a district of the city of Zweibrücken. Politically, it is represented by a local council and a local councilor, see here for details .

Infrastructure
